最近举国上下都在谈论着五一长假是否应取消的问题。我也来凑个热闹，乱说几句。
Recently, everyone in the country is debating on the existance of the May Golden Week. And I would like to add some of mine opinions too.
为什么拿五一来开刀呢？国庆是国家的节日，容易引起政治问题，而春节是全民传统的佳节，桃子只有按照软的捏了，于是五一就首当其冲了。
Why choose to cancel the May Golden Weeks? Well, since the National Day is related to the political peace while the Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday of Chinese Culture, there is no better alternative but to choose the May Golden Week.
其实当初放长假的目的主要是拉动内需，给国民一个休息、花钱的机会，给商人一个爆发的机会，给国家经济一个持续发展的良机。应该说这样的目的是达到了的。
Frankly, if the target of the holiday is only things as to stimulate the domestic demand or to give the citizens an opportunity to relax, to entertain as well as to consume while giving the business man a chance to make good money as well as to give the nation a chance to sustainablely develop its economy, I believe the holiday has achieved its deeds.
由于国人长期的压抑，长期憋在体内的能量，突然有这么多的时间与金钱，一下子找到了渲泄的出口，于是乎几个长假就变成了全民总动员，举国大欢乐的日子了。

到处是人山人海，蚂蚁泛滥，丢盔解甲，狼籍一片。游玩的质量不高，各种的投诉不断，但国家税收提高了，商家找钱了，老百姓也稀里糊涂的过了吧瘾。
There are crowds floating everywhere in the country. bundles of people make everywhere a mess just as what thousands of ants do. Although the quality of travellings are not really satisfying and all kinds of complaints are made, the country did earn high taxes and the businessmen did make lots of profits.
随着国人的“明知山有虎，偏向虎山行”的英雄气概及大无畏精神，各种矛盾自然也就显现出来了。
As the citizens develop a so called dauntless and heroic spirit, the contradictions also rise along.
传统节日增设为假期也肯定是好事，早就该如此了。到如今的年轻人们都去过洋节之时，才想到要亡羊补牢，为时尚还不晚，仍还来得及进行传统文化的培养。
Setting traditional festivals as holiday is sure to be a good thing and we should have done so much earlier. As more and more youngsters are celebrating other country's festivals, it is really high time to get our traditional culture back and celebrate our own festival. Maybe there is still time if we take action now.
有段时期，过春节是禁止燃放烟花炮竹的，管理者为了偷懒，以环保的名义剥夺了国民享受快乐的权利，使之节不成节，日渐凋落，才又想起“噼噼啪啪”那节日的气氛。为了环保难道不会在烟花炮竹上进行改良啊，真是舍本求末。
For a while, firecrackers are banned in spring festivals all because the managers are lazy and tries to deprive the right of citizens to have fun and enjoy because of reasons such as protecting environment. As festivals are increasingly not a festival and less attention are paid to it, the managers finally remembered the "bings and bangs" in the festival. Why not try to improve the firecrackers if they really want to protect the environment. They just concentrate on details but in the end forget the main purpose and objective of the festival.
因此，长假的变动也不宜盲目行事，有充分的调查依据后再作调整不迟，拍脑袋感性从事，就像曾经实行过的“夏时制”一样，得不偿失，不了了之，最后政府颜面何在。科学的发展观难道只是挂在嘴边的一句空话？节日的长短多少是要靠理性的数据说话的。
Hence, we should not make a haste decision on the changing of holidays. We should make deliberate decisions after abundant surveys. Making haste decisions would only bring more losses than gains just as what happened when the goverment decided to use the "summer hours". Sicientific development should not only be a promise never to be fufilled. The length of the holidays should only depend on rational statistics not self assumptions.
