这里的north是当作形容词来用；如果用in，就要把north当成名词来用。因为in是介词，介词后面必须跟一个名词或代词。

如果把north当作名词来用，就必须在它前面加上the：

The Great Wall is in the north of Beijing.

但这样我们又发现了一个问题：in the north of Beijing是在北京范围之内的才可以这样说。事实上，长城是在北京城外，所以要这样说：

The Great Wall is to the north of Beijing.
