英语翻译中数字和倍数的翻译表达

1、数字的表达

在汉语中，数字从个、十、百、千、万、十万、百万、千万、亿等，是以“十”的倍数来表达；而英语中，数字超过千以后，则以“千”（thousand）的倍数来表达，例如“一万”为“十千”，即ten thousand；“十万”为“百千”，即hundred thousand；“百万”为million。百万以上的数字则用“百万”的倍数表达，如“千万”为“十百万”，即ten million；“亿”为“百百万”，即hundred million；“十亿”为billion。对于四位以上的数字，汉语中是以四位计数（万、亿），而英语中则是以三位计数（thousand, million, billion, trillion）。了解了这两种表达方式的区别，翻译数字时需要转换思维方式。

2、数字倍数的表达以及翻译

英语表示倍数增减或倍数对比的句型多样，主要原因在于英汉两种语言在表述或对比倍数方面存在差异。常用的英语倍数句型及其正确翻译如下：

A is n times bigger (longer, more, ...) than B。

A is n times as big (long, much, ...) as B。

A is n times the size (length, amount, ...) of B。

以上三句都表示A的大小（长度、数量，……）是B的n倍或A比B大（长、多，……）n-1倍。
