英语中有很多类似的单词，只用复数，不用单数，比如trousers=pants长裤，shorts短裤，scissors剪子，等等，这些词要表达汉语的“一”的概念时，要用a pair of一副，一双，一对……，所以一条长裤要说a pair of trousers，而不说 two trousers，如果用a pair of trousers的时候，就是单数，因为中心词pair是单数，代词用it，

如果用trousers时，是复数，代词用they(主格)，them(宾格)。

其余的类似的词也是这样用法。
